Mac Filtering Wifi

The MAC filtering feature on your Netgear wireless router creates an access list based on the unique Media Access Control numbers that you add. Because every computer networking device has a unique MAC address, MAC filtering should prevent unauthorized users from accessing your wireless network. However, because of the steps needed to find the MAC address of a network device, you may find it difficult or inconvenient to add new computers to your network. If this is the case, disable MAC filtering and select another security method such as WPA2 encryption.

Open a Web browser on a computer connected to the Netgear router via a wired or wireless connection. Type 'www.routerlogin.com' or 'www.routerlogin.net' in the address bar and press 'Enter' to display a login prompt.

Type 'admin' in the 'User Name' field. Enter the password you selected when you set up your Netgear router. If you did not select a custom password, type 'password' to log in. Press 'Enter' to display the main menu for the Netgear router.

Click 'Wireless Settings' under the Advanced heading on the left menu bar.

Click the 'Setup Access List' button near the bottom of the page. This brings you to the 'Wireless Card Access List' page.

Clear the check mark from the 'Turn Access Control On' box at the top of the page.
